INTRODUCTION
Kildare County Childcare Committee (KCCC) was established in **Apply
on the website** and is one of the **Apply on the website**
City/County Childcare Committees (CCCs) established nationally
following the policy recommendation of the Report of the Partnership
**Apply on the website** Expert Working Group on Childcare.
KCCC is a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) and a registered Charity.
The Company is governed by a board of 7 trustees/directors and employs
a team of 7 staff to include a CEO (full-time), Administrator
(full-time), Clerical Officer (full-time) and 4 Development
Officers/Workers (2 part-time/2 full-time). The Company office is
located at Unit **Apply on the website** Thompson Enterprise Centre,
Clane Business Park, Clane, Co. Kildare. The board and staff team have
been working remotely during the Covid **Apply on the website**
Pandemic period and plan to adopt a hybrid working practice going
forward.
KCCC is funded by the Department of Children Equality, Disability,
Integration & Youth (DCEDIY). The funding is administered by Pobal on
behalf of DCEDIY and CCLPL reports to Pobal.
KCCC made a submission and provided additional information to Indecon,
commissioned by DCEDIY to carry out a review of the wider operating
system for Early Learning and Care (ELC) and School-age Childcare
(SAC) at national and local level to develop more consolidated and
streamlined planning, funding, administration and quality support
operating systems for the sector. As part of this review a range of
possible options including a dedicated Statutory Agency, the use of
existing State Agencies or the establishment of an executive arm of
the Department of Children and Youth Affairs will be considered. The
parameters for this Review set out in Goal D.1.B.9. of the First 5
Strategy.
